They say that photographers must have a professional and quite analytical eye capable of looking beyond what is apparent. Precisely thanks to this ability, the life of a puppy has taken a surprising turn after a photographer found him abandoned on an island, writes fancy4work
Wesley White is a photographer who was visiting Belize, Central America, for work. One fine day, his adventurous spirit prompted him to take a kayak trip to a small, remote island.
The man just left his hotel and took his camera with him in search of portraying the most beautiful landscapes, without knowing the surprise he would get.
In the place, Wesley looked for a place to rest and prepare to fish and take a couple of pictures. He thought he was alone but to his surprise he found an emaciated little dog lying in an unoccupied fishing shack.
“Out of the corner of my eye, I saw his tail wagging. My heart exploded out of my chest. I was waiting for a human to show up,” Wesley said.
Wesley knew immediately that he had to act quickly if he wanted to save the little creature’s life.
For that reason, he took a towel and decided to cover him to take him back to his hotel. Upon arrival at the site, the resort staff were very friendly and decided to contact the local vet.
While the specialist arrived, Wesley tried to feed the little animal, which he named Wiston, because there was something that really worried him: he only had 2 days left of his trip through Belize.
This rescue really happened against the clock, and that he still did not know the state of health of the creature.
“Winston was found to be infested with mites, emaciated and dehydrated, but his organs were otherwise healthy,” Wesley wrote on Instagram.
Although the little animal looked pretty bad, there was hope that it would recover. Winston only had to follow his treatment but this was not something so simple for Wesley, who had to return to his house in Montana.
“All of a sudden, it was like giving up my little puppy,” Wesley said.
The man took care of him for a couple of days but had to abandon him, although not before leaving him in good care.
Wesley returned home but he couldn’t stop thinking about the puppy he met on the island, he knew he had to get it back.
The man started a GoFundMe campaign to cover the animal’s medical expenses and in less than a month found a way to make Wiston’s trip to the United States possible.
Wesley wanted the little friend to live with him and his other two puppies.
Finally, the day came, Wesley drove from Montana to Dallas to greet his new friend. Although he was a little afraid that Winston wouldn’t remember him, the truth is that the little animal hadn’t been able to forget his guardian angel.
The little animal looked much healthier and was happy to be reunited with the photographer.
Winston was able to adjust to the change in temperature between Belize and Montana, and is happy to be with his new family. How the animal got to that remote island will always remain a mystery, but the important thing is that a hero named Wesley unthinkingly came to its rescue.
Do not leave without sharing this charming story. Make it possible for the example of this man to inspire other people and every day there are more who decide to change the life of some little animal.
