In this amazing sᴄᴇɴᴇ, an enraged elephant ᴀᴛᴛᴀᴄᴋed three tiny hippo calves and chased them back into the river. Hippopotamus calves were swimming in the Umfolozi River in Sᴏᴜᴛʜ Aғʀɪᴄᴀ. On the other side of the pond, an elephant was standing with its head cocked toward some ɢʀᴀss.

But it lifted its eyes when it saw the three baby hippos in the murky water. As they approached the elephant, they stumbled up the riverbed and caught its attention.

The elephant tried to scare two of the baby animals away, but they were invisible because they were under water at the moment. The two surrounding hippos were sᴛᴀʀᴛʟᴇd as the elephant charged once more when the calves continued to be silent.

When the elephant charged forward a third time, the three curious calves at last went back to the water. The young animals fled with a huge splash as the elephant raced into a tree and knocked it to the ground. One of the three lifted its head out of the water to take one last glance at the elephant.

The footage was captured by Mr. Evan Malsbury, who worked for the tour operator that had planned the river trip. He said that before the three hippopotamuses arrived, the elephant was left alone for a while. The drama then increased in intensity.
